Julia Frank (born 1988, Val Venosta, Bolzano) is an Italian artist who lives and works between London and Glorenza, South Tyrol, Italy. Her art considers the events she witnesses in public and private spaces, and disrupts the order in which they happen. She questions the environment from her own urban, ecological and cultural perspective, as well as the mechanisms that drive social systems and our awareness of them, in time-and place-specific works. Julia Frank addresses development and change with a variety of techniques, presenting the objects of our collective consciousness in a radically new form and interpreting them in a different way every time. Rooted in popular culture, her works invite us to take a stance – be it favourable or otherwise – with respect to this shared space.
