Robert Bosisio, (1963, IT) sees thresholds and limits as constituent element of his practice. Figures and landscapes come from an in-between-state, or invite us to dwell. Robert Bosisio is interested in the aesthetic aspects of this in-between: gradation, geometry, hinting at things. Transitions, apparitions and evocations wind through the fabric of his canvases, animating the depicted motions and hinting at something uncanny. Giving rise to a need, and inclination to keep going back to his subject (duplicating or refuelling it), to go into greater depth, depersonalise it, or gradually, metaphysically transform its forms and background. The result is a truly modern kind of painting in which tension is expressed in the intensity of colour and control over the weave, while representation stays on the sidelines.
