Galleria Doris Ghetta is pleased to present ONDES, Walter Moroder’s new solo exhibition, opening on Friday, 24 July at 7 pm at the gallery’s Pontives venue. With this exhibition, the artist returns to the gallery following tl nia, presented in 2023.

The exhibition takes its title from a series of photographs taken by Moroder during a stay in Sri Lanka. The daily observation of the ocean and the movement of the waves becomes the starting point for a reflection on transformation over time and on the cyclical nature of natural phenomena.

The exhibition features a new series of wooden sculptures alongside works that combine wood and weaving, further developing some of the central themes of the artist’s practice, particularly the relationship between structure and movement. Through his engagement with wood as a material and its hybridisation with woven elements, Moroder also explores new exhibition possibilities and new relationships between artwork, space and the constructive process.

Alongside the sculptures, the exhibition includes a photographic work translated into a sculptural dimension, where the image loses its documentary function and becomes a physical and perceptual presence.

The exhibition is accompanied by a curatorial text by Markus Klammer.
