Galleria Doris Ghetta is pleased to present a series of new works by Robert Bosisio, most of them created during 2021 and now presented at Spazio Minimal in Milan. Alongside portraits of people and their bodies in which the distinctive features become increasingly blurred, making them less distinguishable, are a series of paintings depicting thresholds and doors through which light enters, creating a rarefied and at times a dreamlike atmosphere.

Keenly attentive to the slightest fluctuations of light, in his artistic practice Bosisio explores the boundary between the real and the magical, the concrete and the ephemeral, the experience of space and its unseen perception. Using thin multi colour brushstrokes, his paintings exceed the flatness of the canvas surface to gain three-dimensional depth. Giving representation a gregarious role, Bosisio oscillates between the need to constantly return to the subject and the desire to alienate it, thus transporting the shapes and colours on the canvas into the sphere of the metaphysical.

Robert Bosisio (born 1963 in Trodena, Bolzano) lives and works between Trodena and Berlin. Recently he has shown his work at Galleria Doris Ghetta, Ortisei and Milan (2019, 2020, 2021), 104 Gallery, Tokyo (2019, 2021), Galerie Fravi, Ems (2020), Galerie Maier, Innsbruck (2019), Italian Cultural Institut, Tokyo (2019).
