Mission
Galleria Doris Ghetta, rooted in the picturesque landscapes of Gherdëina/Val Gardena in the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage site, traces its origin to the family frame shop of Doris Ghetta in Ortisei city center. From this modest beginning, the gallery transitioned into a contemporary art space in 2014, symbolizing a commitment to preserving cultural heritage while embracing a forward-looking vision. With Eleonora Castagna as a partner and a new venue in Milan, the gallery enters a new chapter in 2022.
Its core principle explores new humanism through introspective reflections on reconnecting with nature. The program focuses on the symbiotic relationship between communities and landscapes, the balance in habitats, and an evolving imaginary that intertwines art, culture, and the human narrative. The gallery acts as a conduit for artists, nurturing diverse expressions and fostering a deeper understanding of humanity's place in the natural world.
The project space, Garasc, further supports emerging artists, encouraging experimentation and the creation of site-specific works that seamlessly integrate with the gallery's evolving ecosystem. Through initiatives like the Biennale Gherdëina, founded by Doris Ghetta in 2008, Gherdëina/Val Gardena emerges as a space where artists and individuals quietly commune with nature and culture.
The overarching vision is to inspire a sustainable future through the transformative influence of art, embodying a more understated yet impactful approach to fostering harmony between humanity and the natural world.
